Comfort Measures: mattress, meds and life!
4:00 AM - My day starts with a green tea. I boil the water and while I wait for that I think of how much coffee I used to drink, but not anymore as I was told green tea is good for my prostate.
You might be wondering why the hell I get up so early. Well I'm hyperactive, been that way since I was born. I drove my parents crazy because from the age of 0 to 19 (I left the house at 19) I only slept 4 hours a night. Then it increased to 5 hours in my thirties. I have woke up between 4:00 and 4:30 am and still do. Of course I have lots of stories from my childhood but that is going back a little too far - 40+ years too far. :)
I hear the pitter patter of our two Weimaraner dogs coming down the stairs from the bedroom to greet me and say good morning. Sasha is three years old and is currently in heat. Saxx is fixed and very hyperactive (brings back memories of my energy). They both go outside through the dog door to do there business and I keep an eye on them to ensure there isn't any hanky-panky going on outside. They are very high energy, smart and loving dogs bringing a interesting and loving dynamic into the household.I feel good this morning, have some energy back. I'm looking forward to a Mark (a friend) coming over to take me out for lunch. He lives about 45 minutes away where Mark and his wife built a completely off grid homestead last year and home school there beautiful children. His commitment to travel 45 minutes isn't lost on me and I appreciate it. I'm really looking forward to seeing him again in person.
It's now late afternoon, I'm tired from just a 2 hour outing and need a little more Hydro-Morphine to take away the pain in my legs. I had a great visit with Mark, discussing technologies for off-grid homes, homesteading, natural remedies and some business ideas that we are kicking around.
After I had a nap I checked my email and made some new contacts that help with my condition and some additional local support resources. I plan to attend a zoom meeting for Prostate Cancer patients were we share our experience and campion each other on their medical journey. I am hoping this will help long term to keep a strong mental and positive emotional attitude thru the times to come.
Back to doing online research for a great affordable mattress. This is what I have found in my research so far. Resident Home is a company that has several lines of mattresses and has quickly carved out a solid market share of the business in a short time using data analytics and performance marketing. Lines include: Nectar, Awara, Level Sleep (might now be Nectar) and DreamCloud. The company is so successful that Ashley Furniture announced today that it will acquire Resident Home Inc.
Another good online source for mattress is Goodmorning.com where there are a number of different lines of mattresses. I haven't fully flushed out all of the offering on this site, but it is worth checking out. I'm somewhat interested in the Logan & Cove Choice Hybrid mattress.
I specifically like the DreamCloud Premier Rest mattress. It looks and sounds like it has most of the comfort features we are looking for. Plus a 365 day trial!!
Purple is a high end mattress company that looks extremely interesting to me but well out of my price range. If money was no object I would purchase the Purple Rejuvenate Premier mattress. It is great for side sleepers and has a 5 zone support system.
Well, it's getting late now and time for my medications and some sleep. Good night.
